Not What I'd Hoped

The product description had me believing this would be a good guide a practice book for writing Cyrillic characters. It isn't. It spends too much time on basics and tidbits of Russian culture, and doesn't give space or even instructions on forming the Russian letters. Most of the ideas presented are given in more useful format by other methods, including Complete Russian, by the same author.
Doesn't anyone publish a workbook for practicing the Russian letters?

Misleading title

If you want to read and write Russian script, this is not a particularly useful book. If you are actually going to Russia soon and need an easy crib sheet telling you actual useful things that you need to know before you get there, this could come in handy. I think its worth about $5 for that purpose. It has a cheery tone of voice and is aimed primarily at kids.

Quick and EASY way to learn to read Russian

We will be traveling to Eastern Europe in a few months and I wanted to be able to read road/train signs and know what I was purchasing in the grocery store. This book was perfect for me. It starts out by teaching you all the letters that are the same in both Russian and English. Then, you move on to a little harder and a little harder. Before you know it, you surprise yourself by being able to actually READ Russian words. I'm extremely happy with this book and would highly recommend it to anyone trying to teach themselves to read Russian script.
